The name state is periodically committed on-chain as a merkle root (ODNCA-STD-004 §6). The certificate proves the name sits in the latest committed state and who holds it — verifiable offline with the published reference verifier. Don’t trust us — recompute us: the standards and vectors let anyone reproduce the same answer.
Automated checks use the open JSON endpoint: GET /verify/<name> answers valid: true with the proof data — no keys, no rate hoops for basic verification. Full proof objects: GET /proof/<name>.
